Supino Pizzeria

A little hole in the wall.  On Russell Street.  In Eastern Market.  Detroit.  Serves the best pizza.  EVER.  Seriously, they were even featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri - Pizza, Pancakes and Pork.  The pizza menu is divided into reds and whites, with both the classics and the innovators impressing on both parts.  It is difficult to claim a best pizza at  Supino's ... I have had quite a few... Each one just as delicious as the next.  However... as difficult as it is... the City Wing Thing (City Wing’s smoked turkey, smoked Gouda, cherry peppers, mozzarella, roasted garlic) on the red menu, the Verdure e Funghi (flat parsley, fresh basil, mushrooms, mozzarella, smoked Gouda, parmigiano) and Affumicata aka Smoky (speck (smoked prosciutto), roasted garlic, chopped parsley, mozzarella, smoked Gouda, ricotta) on the white menu are AMAZING!

Zingerman's Delicatessen: An Ann Arbor Staple

For those of you who have not yet experienced the heaven via food that is Zingerman's Deli in Ann Arbor... STOP... your life is incomplete.  The sandwiches, bagels, breads, cheeses, meats, and various salads/sides are tantalizing.  Many a Saturday afternoon can find people standing in line in the freezing cold (as is Ann Arbor) outside of Zingermans, waiting for fulfillment in the form of food.  Seriously, this place is that good.  Of course the sandwich menu features classics such as the Zingerman's Reuben (which made Food & Wine's list of Best Sandwiches in America) piled high with corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut & Russian dressing atop Jewish rye bread... and you're thinking... what is so special about that?  It is absolutely the best.  I have experience many a sandwich at Zingerman's (think six years of school in Ann Arbor plus all the years of visiting family... adds up to A LOT of sandwiches), so I can attest to their championship among delis.  On a recent breakfast visit, bagels were in order.  See below.  The Zingerman's Enough Already bagel... smeared with cream cheese.  Toasted and hot... the way a serious bagel is meant to be.  However.  No bagel, especially at breakfast, double especially at Zingerman's is complete without creamy tomato soup.  They do that right too.

My boyfriend, of course, orders a sandwich.  I mean, what the heck it is practically noon since we took our sweet ass time getting out of bed, getting ready, and driving from Detroit to Ann Arbor.  See below.  Sheer deliciousness.  If you did not believe me about the unreal levels of flavor (meats and cheeses) ... you do now.

And no Zingerman's meal is complete without an old pickle (the garlicky kind... not that new cucumber crap... sorry to those of you who are mislead and like that), a fountain soda, and a pretzel... made with real lard.

The guy and I ventured into some new territory this time however (see my post regarding New Year's resolutions and trying new things, getting out of my same old routine, yada yada yada).  CHEESE.  While cheese at Zingerman's appears to be expensive... do not be fooled.  Okay.  Yes.  It is expensive.  But when only feeding two delusional people who have already massively over-ordered (the sandwich would be enough to share... since we go the large size), two ounces of cheese ought to do right.  Wholly worth the money.  About six dollars, for four ounces total, two ounces of two cheeses.  Delish!  The parm went perfectly with my tomato soup!

And of course there were leftovers!  Of EVERYTHING.  Excluding my bagel.  That I wolfed down like a person who had never seen nor experienced carbs before.  Shame.

I think you can see from the picture below how much happiness Zingerman's can provide.  If you haven't experienced food bliss... then I suggest you do so.

P.S. The renovations - FABULOUS.

Philosophy: The Microdelivery

This morning... tried a new product.  Total game changer.

Philosophy's The Microdelivery in home vitamin c peel is AWESOME!  This morning after a shower - this works best on well cleansed skin, however I skipped my usual morning exfoliation since this is technically a "peel" product - I applied The Microdelivery.  It is a two step product involving vitamin c/peptide crystals - vitamin c is great for brightening the skin - and a lactic/salicylic acid activating gel.  The first step is the crystals.  You rub them gently into your skin - without scrubbing! - and allow the sweet smell of vitamin c sweep over you.  After the crystals have been thoroughly spread out, apply the activating gel.  This will cause the crystals to foam and heat up.  Mine didn't heat up or foam as much as it did when I tested it on my hand, however it still felt amazing!  Leave on for two to three minutes - I only left it on for two since it was my first time.  You can use a washcloth (or not ... I didn't) to remove the product.  And it totally worked!!!  My skin was clearer, softer, and brighter.  I plan on using this product again in the future.  Not many products actually do what they promise, but this one lives up to the hype.

Chanel Makeover - Blue Smokey Eye

Got a makeover today at Chanel (at Macy's at the Mall at Robinson).  These girls are fabulous!  It was only supposed to be a smokey blue eye demo, which of course turned into a full face.  The girls working at Chanel are wonderful - not only are they beyond hilarious, but they have excellent product knowledge and beautiful application skills.
